Holiday Rentals on the Costa del Sol Spain

Holiday rental accommodation on the Costa del Sol

Why should you book your holidays in January

The post Christmas blues and January’s cold, wet weather, leads people to book sunshine holidays in their hoards. The first Saturday on the New Year is dubbed Sunshine Saturday in the UK, and it is the busiest booking day of the whole year for travel agents and airlines! So the question is have you booked yet?

Don’t worry if you haven’t, there’s still plenty of time, but we do recommend getting ahead of the curve to get the best deals and ensure availability. Some people like to wait to see the last minute deals, and of course that’s fine too, but early bookings are important if you fit into any of these categories.

You have kids and need to travel in the school holidays – Not surprisingly, these are the most popular times to travel and availability is limited, so getting in ahead of the rest is the best idea.
If you have a particular destination in mind, which has limited accommodation – If you love a particular village which doesn’t have many holiday rentals or hotels, then booking early will make sure you’re not disappointed.
If you have fallen in love with a particular villa or apartment and want to return – We have many guests that return to the same holiday rental time and time again, because it is perfect for them. If that’s your case, then don’t wait to book, especially in peak times, as you may be disappointed.
If you’re travelling in a group – Group holidays are getting increasingly popular, but take some organisation to make sure that everyone is free, so fixing your dates and booking up that perfect villa in January makes sense.

Happy Holidays!

On behalf of all of our team, we wish you a very Happy Holidays, and health and happiness in 2018! We hope you have a wonderful time, wherever you are spending the holidays, and that you can be with friends, family and loved ones.

At this special time of year we always like to give back to those less fortunate than ourselves, so we’re helping the homeless on the Costa del Sol. We collaborate with a local homeless charity and contribute savoury and sweet pies to their Christmas meal and presents so that everyone can get a little something this year. All our generous staff are making donations to this cause, and the company is doubling what they raise so we can help as many people as possible.

At the office, we are collecting warm coats, blankets, scarves and rucksacks, to give to the homeless. So if you have anything in the house which you don’t use anymore, please drop them in to the office and we’ll make sure they get to people in need. Where to find us

Watch Davis Cup Tennis in Marbella

Marbella has been chosen to host the Davis Cup World Group matches between Great Britain and Spain from the 2nd to the 4th of February 2018. This means that some of the UK and Spain’s best players will be competing on the courts at the Puente Romano tennis club over three days. There will be singles and doubles games over five “rubbers”, with the winning team needing to win three or more of the five games.

This is the first time since 2013 that Spain has hosted a Davis Cup tie and the matchup between Great Britain and Spain hasn’t been seen since the 1980s. The UK has been seeded third in the World Group, but Spain are fearsome opponents, having won the title four times. Spain boasts an excellent pool of quality players to choose from, including world number one Rafael Nadal. With Andy Murray suffering a hip injury at Wimbledon, it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to play in the team.  However, this year both teams got knocked out in the quarter finals, so they have a point to prove.

Marbella was competing against other destinations for this great sporting event, but the great clay court at the Puente Romano, the lovely climate in the south of Spain and good transport links made it the winning choice. It will be very popular with holiday makers too for a bit of winter sun, golf, great restaurants and of course some great holiday rentals!

Davis Cup ties are always very popular with spectators, so there have been recommendations to extend the Puente Romano grandstands to accommodate around 9,000 fans. British Tennis team members will get a priority ticket sale for their allocation and […]

Plan your festive getaway

November is here and the countdown is well and truly on to the festive season. Where will you be spending the holidays this year? If you’re getting family together from around the country, why not bring them all over to Spain’s sunshine coast to celebrate?

The Costa del Sol has great weather all year round with temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C and regularly hitting highs of 16°C, you can still enjoy 6 hours of sunshine each day. As it only rains an average of 5 days in December, you should have lots of bright sunny days, but with cool evenings which make you feel festive.

Bringing the whole family, or a group of friends, together in a villa on the Costa del Sol is a great way to add excitement and novelty to the holidays. It also takes away from any one person having to shoulder all the responsibility for cooking or cleaning for example. By celebrating on neutral territory any jobs can be shared around and there’s no unnecessary stress on you.

There are spectacular villas on the Costa del Sol available for Christmas rentals at a fraction of the cost of the summer and we can arrange cleaning as well, so you can just relax. You won’t believe how far your budget will go when you split a large villa between a group and they offer so much space and facilities too.

Take this beautiful luxury 6 bed villa in Elviria for example. It would be just 61€ per person per night based on 12 people sharing in December. For that you have so many lovely features such as a gym, private pool, formal living room with a grand piano, perfect for singing carols, a comfortable […]

The most photogenic spots on the Costa del Sol

If you love taking photos and are looking for some real lens candy, then consider a visit to the Costa del Sol. The area has been popular with artists for many years, due to the wonderful quality of light and clear, sunny skies. From September to December the clarity is at its best and there are less tourists to get in the way, so now is a great time to come on holiday and get snapping.

There are Kodak moments everywhere you look on the Costa del Sol, but here are some of our favourite things to capture.

La Concha – This imposing mountain sits behind Marbella and its shape and the deep grooves in the sides make for an amazing backdrop. At certain times of day, it really glows and there are many wonderful shots to be taken from the seafront promenade or from the Old Town, where you can compose shots to include charming church spires and white washed buildings with La Concha in the background.
The Med – The long sandy beaches and sparkling sea is synonymous with the Costa del Sol and there are some beautiful images to be captured, from amazing sunsets over the water, to early morning calm, or even dolphins playing in the waves. Walk along the beach or seafront promenade, or take out a boat to look for dolphins and whales around the Straits of Gibraltar for a different perspective. On clear days, you can see the African coast and the Atlas Mountains and the rock of Gibraltar is a very striking sight – these all make for wonderful images that you will treasure.
Casares – There are many white villages in the countryside close to the […]

The best Autumnal activities on the Costa del Sol

We love autumn on the Costa del Sol, the weather is still warm – but not too hot, there’s plenty to do, but the crowds have gone and so you can park, get a table in a great restaurant and enjoy the area to the full without the queues!

Get active

October to December are the perfect months to get active, with cooler temperatures but plenty of sunshine. If you’re sporty, you could play a round of golf at one of the 70 golf courses on the Costa del Sol, go and play tennis at the club of Wimbledon legend Manolo Santana, jog along the seafront promenade each day, or take place in a race. Find out more about Golf on the Costa del Sol here.

Alternatively, why not take to your bike, and explore on two wheels? The Costa del Sol is a great place for cycling, with miles of seafront promenades to enjoy, plus lots of great routes for mountain biking.

Another great option is to hike some of the beautiful routes into the countryside, which is so close to the hustle and bustle of the coast. There are wonderful walks behind Mijas Pueblo, around Casares, Estepona, Ronda and Istan to explore, with easy to follow paths and Town Hall organised guided walks too. If you are staying in Marbella, you must go to the Refugio de Juanar, just up from the La Cañada shopping centre. The countryside is beautiful, and you can walk for miles along marked trails, or just wander amongst the trees and find a perfect picnic spot. From there you can do the ultimate challenge, which is to climb up the iconic La Concha mountain, which dominates the Marbella skyline. This […]

Get to know Marbella on foot

Marbella and Puerto Banus are well known for their luxurious lifestyles and fast cars, but in fact, one of the best ways to explore is on foot. They are small towns, connected by a stunning seaside promenade, with parks and pretty streets, which are perfect for walking. Exploring on foot allows you to take your time, find hidden gems and not worry about parking or traffic.  Here are our suggestions of a few great walks, hikes and activities for everyone who enjoys walking and is coming on holiday to Marbella.

Suggested walks around Marbella

If you like to walk, then head down to the seafront promenade first – it’s the best place for a stroll and stretches for miles. A nice walk is from Marbella to Puerto Banus, to visit the stunning marina and explore the great shops. It is just under 7 kilometres and takes about an hour and a half, with lots of nice places to stop for a drink along the way. You can walk back of course, but a lovely way to return is to take the catamaran ferry, which takes you on a pretty 30 minute journey and returns you to Marbella marina. The ferry is called Fly Blue and tickets are 8.50€ one way for adults and 5€ for children.  They run from Banus on the hour from 11 to 7pm find out more

Once you’ve explored the seafront promenade, the Old Town is a wonderful place to go next. The winding streets and pretty squares are heaven for pedestrians and you can browse the little shops and art galleries and pop into the great coffee shops and bars for a drink or a bite to eat, as well as exploring […]

Five Spanish customs and traditions to enjoy on the Costa del Sol

As we explained in our last post, Spain is rich in culture, heritage and traditions. The Costa del Sol has a lot to offer on that front as well, but it can be easy for the average tourist to miss. So, we wanted to offer you five things to experience on your next holiday to the Costa del Sol so that you can really have the true Spanish experience, while still making the most of all the tourist attractions.

Eat Tapas – One of the best ways to explore a Spanish town is to “tapear” or explore the area by visiting its tapas restaurants. You can do this on your own, with a tour group, or as part of organised tapas events, where you can follow a set route with a booklet and a map to try out different tapas and find hidden corners. Marbella, Malaga and Estepona all have yearly tapas events, as do many other towns, so ask in your local tourist office. You can also check out this great website with articles about tapas in Marbella, Nerja, Antequera, Malaga, Torremolinos and Ronda to find out more.

Experience Flamenco – Andalucia is the birthplace of flamenco, with Jerez, Cadiz and Seville all hubs for this passionate art form. The unique sound, music, singing and of course dancing is central to ferias on the Costa del Sol, with people breaking into spontaneous song and dance at local bars, and hundreds dancing in traditional dress in large dance areas. There are also flamenco shows at hotels, restaurants and bars – some more traditional and authentic than others, but all amazing to watch. There are also many schools and teachers who can help you to learn flamenco […]

Exploring and Experiencing Spain’s Heritage for your next holiday

Spain is ranked number 2 in the world rankings for heritage in the Best Countries report and rankings for the distinctive way of life, the value put on their culture, history and national identity. Spain is fiercely proud of its traditions and even the younger generations are passionate about it, with flamenco music, fashion and ferias, being embraced as strongly by the kids and teens, as by their grandparents.

Spain also has a rich history and some stunning historical buildings and sites to visit. There are 45 World Heritage Sites in Spain, seven of which are here in Andalusia. The Costa del Sol offers a great combination of heritage, culture and internationalism, to make your holiday easy and stress free, as well as culturally rich.

As soon as you arrive in Spain, you start to relax and allow the spirit of “mañana” (tomorrow) enter into your veins. The Spaniards know how to enjoy themselves and eating, drinking and partying is central to their lifestyle, which makes it such a great place for a holiday!

You can experience the Spanish culture in all its madness and glory at the Malaga Feria from the 12th to the 19th of August, a wonderful display of flamenco music and fashion, great food and the Andalusian spirit of fun. This is the biggest and the best feria in the region, but there are many other ferias throughout the year, which give you a sense of the wonderful culture and heritage. Here are our top three Costa del Sol ferias

Another great way to experience the heritage and culture of Spain, is to base yourself in a holiday rental property on the Costa del Sol and go and visit some of the area’s […]
