Holiday rental accommodation on the Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol – the perfect spring holiday destination

Spring is officially here, with the clocks going back to give us longer evenings and the weather treating us to lots of spring sunshine, it is a great time to visit the Costa del Sol.

If you ask the locals, they will tell you that spring is one of their favourite times of year, when the warmth of the sun reappears, the beach restaurants and clubs open their doors once more and excitement is in the air for the beginning of the new season. There’s a great atmosphere, everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and more events and activities are popping up all along the Costa del Sol.

As we mentioned last month, Easter is just around the corner and this means a week of processions, pomp and ceremony and bank holidays a plenty, which makes getting away even easier. If you haven’t booked an Easter break yet, there is still some last minute availability, but things are booking up fast, so give us a call to find out what we have left in your chosen area.

However, spring is a lot more than just visiting at Easter. If you aren’t restricted by the school holidays, we’d recommend coming at the end of April and the beginning of May, when the temperatures are rising, but flights are still relatively cheap and the peak period of rentals hasn’t yet begun. This is a brilliant time to visit and your money goes a lot further!

Here are three great holiday rental properties in three different areas, which are perfect for a spring getaway.

3 bedroom apartment Marbella Town – This luxury apartment is situated in the prestigious complex of Jardines de Principe in Marbella, within walking distance of the beach and […]

Play Golf on the Costa del Sol in 2017

There are so many reasons to love the Costa del Sol if you’re a golfer, but the main ones have to be the number and quality of the golf courses in the area, the ease of access between them and the lovely weather which enables you to play all year round.

It is home to one of Europe’s best courses Valderrama, which recently announced that it would host the Andalucia Valderrama Masters in October this year. As part of the European Tour, it will bring 150 professional players to the course and further cement it as one of the best in the world. This is just one of over 70 courses on the Costa del Sol, so no matter your handicap, preferences or budget, there are courses to suit you.

Here are some courses we really like and great holiday rental properties right by them.

Calanova Golf Club – This is a challenging and well-maintained course behind La Cala de Mijas. The location is ideal, as it’s an easy 30 minute drive from Malaga airport, and within just five minutes’ drive from the busy and attractive town of La Cala and its beautiful beaches. It offers good value for money, with special deals such as greenfee, buggy and a set of clubs for 82€.

If you like the sounds of the location and course, we have a great 1 bed penthouse on the front line of Calanova Golf Club, with great views over the course and down to the sea. Furnished to a high standard, this cozy apartment is perfect for a couple of keen golfers and includes a spacious south facing terrace and a hot tub.

Los Arqueros Golf and Country Club – This was the first course […]

Why holiday in Cabopino?

As part of our regular feature on recommended holiday destinations, we wanted to look at the charming area of Cabopino on the Costa del Sol. Literally translated as Pine Cape, this is a stunning area with some of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol, a lovely marina and some great restaurants.

It is in an excellent location, a 30-minute drive from Malaga airport and very close to Calahonda and Elviria, which both have excellent restaurants, shops and supermarkets. It’s roughly equidistant between Marbella and Fuengirola, so if you have a car and want to explore it’s an excellent base.

Families and sun worshippers will love the sandy cove which slopes gently into the sea, providing the perfect place for kids to play. Right on the sand, there are some great beach restaurants and cafes, to munch on fresh fish, have a cold beer or cool down with an ice cream, so it’s a great place to enjoy a sunny day. There’s also an 18-hole golf course nearby, if you want a more active holiday.

We have lots of great holiday rentals in Cabopino, here are just 2 of our favourites:

Cabopino beachfront villa – If you love the beach, don’t want to drive and want a stylish holiday rental, this is a great choice. It has 4 bedrooms and is just 30 meters from the beach and within a short walk of Cabopino port. It has a private garden and pool, plus many terraces to soak up the sun.

Cabopino holiday apartment – Here’s another really well located holiday rental, this time an apartment on the lovely complex of Las Mimosas. This stylish apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is ground floor, for direct access […]

5 reasons you’ll love a holiday on the Costa del Sol this year

As February is the month of love, we thought we’d show our love for the Costa del Sol and pick just 5 reasons why you should come here for a holiday this year.

Enjoy amazing live music – Starlite Marbella have announced that both Elton John and Andrea Bocelli will be performing at this year’s month long celebration of music, with many more being announced over the coming months. We can’t wait to see Elton headline the concert on the 20th of July, running through his most loved hits and some new ones from his 33rd studio album. Why not come along and combine a great holiday with this outstanding concert?
Visit the 5* destination of Marbella – Last month the Marbella Town Hall were at one of the leading tourism fairs, confirming their place amongst the world’s best tourist destinations due to their unbeatable combination of gastronomy, sports, beaches, natural beauty, culture, leisure and shopping. Last year was an incredible year, with an average hotel occupancy of 93% in August, and it looks like 2017 is going to be another great one. Marbella has so much to offer and is a stunning town to visit all year round. If you want to come in summer, make sure you book early to avoid disappointment; it’s going to be busy!
Keep the whole family entertained – There are so many great activities for the kids to enjoy, from water parks and theme parks, to zoos and playgrounds, to indoor play centres, chocolate factories and sports camps. It’s great in the summer, or off peak – there’s always plenty to do.

A Guide to Holidaying Around Malaga

January is a popular time to plan your holidays and if you’re wondering where to jet off to this year, we’d recommend the coastal towns around Malaga on Spain’s sunny Costa del Sol.

As well as being beautiful beachside resorts, the towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola have plenty of good value holiday rental properties, lots to do and excellent access into Malaga city and to the airport. They are connected by a good train line, unlike everywhere else on the Costa del Sol, so you don’t need to have a car. This saves you money and stress and gives you much more flexibility for exploring.

Torremolinos is closest to the airport and has plenty to offer, with wide sandy beaches, brilliant nightlife, shopping and lots to do. There’s a new tourist office in the centre of town which can help you make the most of this great area and is open Monday to Friday 9-2.30.

Benalmadena is next down the coast and within easy reach of Torremolinos and the airport. This lovely town has something for everyone, a beautiful marina, amazing nightlife, lots of family friendly activities and of course some lovely beaches.

If both these places sound good to you, then we’d recommend this 3 bedroom apartment between Torremolinos and Benalmadena and within walking distance of supermarkets, bars, restaurants and shops. The apartment is arranged over one floor, with a south-east facing terrace, a comfortable living and dining area and three good sized bedrooms, one with bunk beds, and there’s a shared pool and gardens.

A little further along the coast towards Marbella is Fuengirola, the final town on the train from Malaga and the airport. Fuengirola has wonderful beaches, great restaurants, a large international community and […]

Now it’s even easier to get to the Costa del Sol!

The Costa del Sol has always been popular with people travelling from the UK and Northern Europe due to the weather, beaches, food and the speed and ease with which you can travel. In just two hours you can travel from London to Malaga, from the rain to the sunshine and the hustle and bustle to the laid back life and settle yourself into a beautiful holiday rental property and just relax.

Malaga airport offers flights to over 100 destinations in 25 countries, including a large number of UK airports with direct and low cost flights and an increasing number of off peak flights. Its new terminal is a joy to use, with plenty of space and light and good shopping and dining options.

After an amazing summer and two great years for tourism, the airlines are adding more seats and new routes to Malaga, so it’s easier than ever to get here for a short break. EasyJet are increasing the number of seats on flights from the UK to their Andalucian airports this winter and are launching a new route connecting London Stansted Airport with Malaga, from March 2017.

Also, don’t forget Gibraltar! It has a shiny new terminal and because it’s small it’s a breeze to get through. Monarch and easyJet opened new routes into Gibraltar this year, perfect for anyone staying on the western Costa del Sol, so check out flights into Gib if you’re staying in Sotogrande, Duquesa, Manilva or Estepona.

But it’s not just the UK that is well served by flights from Malaga, there are lots of Spanish and International destinations including New York, Marrakesh and Istanbul. Eurowings have just announced flights from Malaga to Vienna will be running twice a […]

5 reasons to spend Christmas on the Costa del Sol

We hope that you had a spooktacular Halloween! I don’t know about you, but as soon as Halloween has passed me by, I realise that we’re hurtling towards Christmas and there’s less than 2 months to go, so it’s time to start planning. So, where are you spending it this year?

If you’re not sure and you fancy doing something a bit different, what about renting a gorgeous villa on the Costa del Sol and having a big festive gathering under the Spanish sun? It’s a great option to combine a lovely holiday with a get together with family and friends. With off peak flights being very affordable, especially if you book early, it can be a really attractive option.

So why go to the Costa del Sol at Christmas I hear you ask? Here are 5 great reasons –

The weather – While we can’t promise you’ll be spending Christmas on the beach, there’s normally bright sunny weather, perfect for a stroll, a drink or a spot of lunch al fresco, or a round of golf. But (and I think this is very important too) it gets chilly enough in the evening for you to feel like Christmas and be able to cuddle up with carols around an open fire.
The Christmas Lights – Malaga is absolutely beautiful at Christmas and must be seen to be believed. Calle Larios is awesome for shopping and there are thousands of places to stop for a coffee or a sneaky glass of wine to rest weary feet, so you’re sure to get in the festive mood. Marbella Old Town is also beautiful at this time of year and the little squares, winding streets and traditional bars are so […]

Autumn events on the Costa del Sol

We love the Costa del Sol in the Autumn, it’s a wonderful time to visit! The best thing about Autumn here is that the weather is still wonderful, with hot sunny days, but the uncomfortable nights have passed, so you can sleep soundly. The summer crowds and traffic have disappeared, it’s easy to park and there’s no need to book your restaurants, so everything is a lot more relaxed and easy. Everything on the Costa del Sol apart from the waterparks are still open, with even beach clubs staying open until the beginning of October and sometimes beyond, so you won’t miss a thing.

Last month we spoke about why golfers love to visit the Costa del Sol at this time, but there’s lots more to offer, including a wide variety of excellent events.  Although there’s no doubt that the peak season for events is the summer, more and more events are being arranged off peak, so if you time your visit right you can come and enjoy a great event, as well as the wonderful weather.

Here are 5 amazing events taking place over the autumn and recommended properties to stay in near the action.

28 September – October 2nd Marbella International Film Festival

This wonderful festival showcases a wide range of independent films, shorts and documentaries.  They are promising “an incredibly varied selection of films by some incredibly talented film makers, chosen from all around the world” and as well as the film screenings there are special events and workshops too. If you love film and want to experience everything the festival has to offer, why not take the VIP package which gives you; a VIP Pass to all film screenings, entry to the Red Carpet […]

Autumn Golf Breaks around Marbella

Back in May we wrote a blog about golf holidays on the Costa del Sol and know that now is the time when many golfers are planning their Autumn break, so we wanted to revisit the topic and share some exciting news for golf fans.

Next month, Marbella will be hosting the Spanish Open, a women’s tournament which is part of the Ladies European Tour and will be held at Aloha Golf Club from 22 to 25 September. Aloha Golf is located in Nueva Andalucia’s golf valley, our recommendation for a great location for a golf holiday in our last post. Aloha Golf is a Par 72 parkland course designed by Javier Arana which requires “accuracy from the tee and a good touch around the greens” according to its website and should be a great location for this tournament.

The Spanish Open will be televised and spectators can also go and experience the atmosphere and see 120 great players, including a local golfer Azahara Muñoz, in action. September is a lovely month to visit the area, so it is a great opportunity to watch some fantastic golf and play some of the Costa del Sol’s amazing fairways at the same time. Not only that, but you can also watch John McEnroe in action at the Senior Masters Cup at the Puente Romano in Marbella over the same period, so it will be a real sporting treat.

We have an excellent collection of self-catering golf properties around the Costa del Sol, many of which are in Nueva Andalucia and close to both the Spanish Open and the tennis event. For a very convenient location, we’d recommend this 2 Bedroom Nueva Andalucia holiday rental which is located in the […]

Holiday Advice for August on the Costa del Sol

Are you coming to the Costa del Sol this August? You are in good company, with a whole raft of celebrities spotted here last month, including Novak Djokovic, Seal, Tom Jones, Eva Longoria, Antonio Banderas, not to mention footballers and stars of the small screen. It’s a wonderful place to take a holiday, with so much to do, great beaches, shopping, restaurants and events and August is definitely the most popular month to travel.

Here are some tips from Costa del Sol holiday rental experts HolidayRentalontheWeb to make your holiday even better –

Take care in the sun – Weather forecasts are predicting temperatures in the late 20s and early 30s throughout August, with next Friday reaching a sweltering 36°C. The wonderful weather is one of the best things about a holiday on the Costa del Sol, but it can get dangerous too if you don’t take care. Apply your sun cream regularly, starting with a high factor and working down to protect your skin, whilst getting a great tan. Make sure you’re drinking at least 2 litres of water every day, wear a hat and good quality glasses to protect your eyes and if you start feeling too hot seek shade and a cool glass of water until you feel ready to cope with the heat.

Watch out for unregulated masseuses on the beaches – The Marbella Town Hall has issued warnings against using illegally-practising masseuses on the beaches this summer, saying that they are not qualified and can also make their clients feel sick and dizzy, often pass on illnesses and infections and can cause serious injury. Many beach clubs and chiringuitos have massage areas with regulated and qualified masseuses and there are many spas […]
